Michelle Mathews received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 2006 with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Evaluation and Measurement.  For her dissertation she developed the Quality Instrument for Informal Child Care (QIC), a measure of informal child care quality for family, friend, and neighbor care. She directed Project REACH, a rural child care quality improvement project; coordinated the Early Head Start evaluation; served as interim director of the MU Child Development Lab, and assisted with many research and evaluation projects for the Center for Family Policy and Research on the MU campus.  Currently, Michelle serves as an affiliate assistant professor for the University of Missouri - St. Louis; a Senior Research Analyst for Missouri’s Reading First Evaluation; and a research consultant for local, state, and national research and evaluation projects.
